GENERAL INFORMATION

Scheduling

Classes usually begin the week following the first day of school and continue through our recital the following June. Classes will closely follow the Ballston Spa Central School District calendar. You can find the BSCSD calendar online here.

There will be no class during Thanksgiving, Christmas, February and April vacations, as well as Memorial Day. Please be sure to check with the studio, as we are frequently open on Monday holidays when school is closed. You can access a studio calendar here. Our newsletter will also remind you of upcoming closings.

Monthly newsletters are available in the studio. They will also be e-mailed each month. School closings due to inclement weather do not automatically mean classes are cancelled. Please call the studio or check our website after 2 p.m. on closing days for cancellation announcements. If we do need to cancel class due to weather, you will receive a make-up schedule at your next class.

Attendance

Good attendance throughout the year is absolutely necessary in order to receive optimum benefit from class instruction. Please notify instructors of any planned absences. In case of an emergency absence, call the studio at 885-1170 and we will notify your instructor for you.

Studio Recommendations Regarding Ballet

Joanne's Dance Center strongly encourages all students to take a ballet class. Ballet is the foundation for all styles of dance and will improve and enhance students' dance skills. All competition team dancers are required to take at least one hour of ballet technique each week. Click here for ballet class dress code.

Pictures

This year Village Photo will once again take end-of-the-year recital photos in-studio. Portrait week is usually scheduled in May. Student photos will be taken during regular class time; there will be no instruction. All rooms will be needed for costume changes and portraits. Package information and advance order forms will be available in the lobby in April. Photos will be ready in-studio before recital.
